Pro Sunila aims to:

• increase the appreciation of the area and make Sunila known both in Finland and abroad
• promote the preservation of the environmental values and the repair of damages
• improve the level of services
• promote the repair of buildings and the necessary modernisation in the spirit of conservation
• promote the use and repair of empty or underutilised buildings
• develop interaction between the residents
• research and document the history of the area

In order to promote its goals the organisation:

• cooperates with local, national and international groups interested in the history and preservation of the Sunila area, Modernist architecture and industrial communities
• holds information and discussion events and seminars around issues of building and housing culture
• organises excursions to buildings designed by Alvar Aalto and other important building heritage
• publishes information sheets, brochures, magazines and books
• proposes initiatives to various authorities
• organises voluntary-work events for the maintenance of the buildings and the landscape
